Romans 10: 9 Simple Salvation - Not So Fast Says WT.

"if you confess with your mouth that jesus is lord and believe in your heart that god raised him from the dead, you will be saved".

- romans 10: 9. i find it interesting that this simple requirement for salvation has been a specific target of wt since their beginning.. first, jw's call jehovah lord, not jesus.

the fact that scripture calls jesus the king of kings and lord of lords doesn't seem to matter to them.

Halcon, this is a reference to the abandonment of oneself that is required for salvation..."a living sacrifice". It is a reference to the dethroning of self and the enthronement of Jesus as Lord.

And of course before we could logically put someone on the throne of our life, we need to make sure they are really legit. That's what the resurrection is for. Before the cross, Jesus predicted that he would resurrect himself from the dead, while he was dead.

So, if you are good with a man who resurrected himself from the dead being the Lord of your life, that's about all there is to getting saved. Living the Christian life is a 3 step process though.

1. Justification

2. Sanctification

3. Glorification

i get a few good laughs from the ex-jw facebook site: " ex jw humor will set you free".. i was laughing over dinner with 3rd gen over this post tonight: "question for the audience: i was driving around today and it hit me...there are big falsehoods (armageddon etc.

) that we were told, but also ridiculous falsehoods.

what is your favorite ridiculous falsehoods?

Do JWs Get Excited About WT Publications Any More?

memory from long ago: my old mate from high school lived next door to a jw and was often "treated" to the latest jw literature.

when the "you can live forever in paradise on earth"* book came out, this neighbour waxed lyrical about how good this book was and how powerful the message was.

he acted really keen about it, like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Probably the rejection of one of the main pilliars of the Christian faith - Justification.

"being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him". - Romans 5: 9

(See Wt. 1938 PG. 104-105 - "The… other sheep… are… not even justified“)

I find it interesting that this simple requirement for salvation has been a specific target of WT since their beginning.

First, JW's call Jehovah Lord, not Jesus. The fact that scripture calls Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lords doesn't seem to matter to them.

Secondly, since almost its inception the WT has denied the bodily resurrection (which is the only kind there is) of Jesus.

It's almost like the WT specifically crafted doctrines to cheat people out of the pithy, simplicity of salvation announced in Romans 10:9.

In this bizare WT statement below, the reason for denying the bodily resurrection of Jesus is blamed on the Van Allen radiation belt.

Jesus could not take a human body through the Van Allen radiation belts and outer space to heaven - w63 4/15 pp. 234-243

On arrival, officers said the group were chanting "Jehovah" and refused to exit the vehicle.
Officers added that the people in the SUV “displayed extreme strength”, were unaffected by pepper spray and did not relent when shot with Tasers.

I wished I could say this was unusual. But, they sound just like my JW family and JW relatives I grew up in. JW's are under some sort of spell.

It will be interesting to see the details of this come out. JW elders are not supposed to have guns. He apparently stabbed them to death.

Maybe the WT should ban knives as well.

If you read the suicide note of the lady who murdered her whole family in Michigan a couple years ago, it is obvious she thought that she was “saving” them from a life of pain when she decided to end her own life.

She No doubt reasoned that while she might not be resurrected, certainly her family would wake up in paradise petting panda bears and then get in line for one of those a big houses on a lake that WT prints in their literature.

In the wacky world of watchtower wisdom, she was doing them all a favor.

By the way, some English speaking sources are now saying these recent murders were committed by a JW elder.
